If you’ve walked through Collingwood or South Melbourne this month and noticed a few more leather jackets, corsets and very confident outfits than usual, there’s a good reason. Oz Kink Fest is on again, and it’s now well into its 19th year. The festival opened on 8 October and wraps up on 18 October, which means there’s still a fair bit left to experience if you haven’t made it along yet.

Whether you’ve been part of the scene for years or you’re simply curious and want to see what it’s all about, here’s a guide to what Oz Kink Fest is, what’s already happened, and what’s still to come.

Quick Facts

  • Dates: 8 to 18 October 2026
  • Where: Venues across inner Melbourne, including South Melbourne, Abbotsford, South Yarra and Collingwood
  • Age: Strictly 18+
  • Tickets and program: ozkinkfest.com.au

What is Oz Kink Fest?

Oz Kink Fest bills itself as Australia’s premier festival of fetish, freedom and expression. In practice, it’s ten days of parties, performances, workshops and social events spread across venues in inner Melbourne, all aimed at celebrating Australia’s kink and fetish community.

The festival is open to adults of all kinds. Experienced kinksters turn up to catch up with friends, learn new skills and show off their latest gear. Newcomers come to ask questions, look around and meet people in a setting that’s built around consent, respect and education. There’s no expectation that you already know the lingo or own the outfit.

Organiser Mz Mallice has often said the goal is to give people a safe, informed and social space to explore their interests, rather than working it all out alone. After nearly two decades, that approach has made the festival a fixture on Melbourne’s calendar.

Inside the Fetish Expo: What Went Down at Collingwood Town Hall

The festival’s big daytime event, the Fetish Expo, took over Collingwood Town Hall on Saturday 10 October from 12 noon to 7 pm. If you’ve never been to an event like this, picture a market crossed with a fashion show and a community open day.

More than 60 stallholders from around Australia filled the hall with leather and latex wear, handmade gear, toys, accessories and plenty of conversation starters. There were BDSM performances and demonstrations every hour, and the afternoon built towards the Grand Fetish Fashion Show, with the catwalk scheduled for 4 pm.

The Expo is a good first step if you’re new to all this, because it’s easy to dip in and out. You can browse, chat to makers, watch a demo from a comfortable distance, and leave whenever you like.

The party carried on that night with the Fetish Expo After Party, held at the same venue from 9 pm until 1 am. A Best Latex / Leather / Fetish competition was part of the fun, and the dress code leaned strongly towards fetish wear. On Sunday 11 October, the more relaxed Oz Kink Fest Munch gave newcomers a casual way to meet people in the community.

There’s Still Time: What’s on Until 18 October

The second half of the festival is a bit more hands-on. The days earlier in the week lean towards education, and the final weekend moves into full club-night and intensive-workshop territory.

Workshop series, until Thursday 16 October. Workshops began on 11 October and run through to the 16th. The official program lists sessions with international and local presenters, including a Lee Harrington workshop series, a Mindful Consent Forum with Mistress Tokyo, a live forum on capacity and consent, and a hook suspension and energy pull session with The Carnie and Tom Hill. Session times and ticketing are listed on the festival website, so it’s worth checking before you head out.

Hellfire Resurrection, Friday 16 October. One of the festival’s best-known club nights returns to Chasers Nightclub at 386 Chapel Street, South Yarra. Expect a big, high-energy night with a crowd that has come ready to dress up.

Klub Kunst, Saturday 17 October. This is the festival’s play-focused night. In past years, it has been described as a fully equipped dungeon experience, so it’s a very different vibe to the Expo. Check the official event page for venue and entry details.

Weekend Workshop Intensives, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October. The festival closes with deeper, skills-based sessions at Second Story Studios, 222a Johnson Street, Collingwood. Presenters on the program include DK Blackfish. If you want to learn properly rather than just sample a taste, this is the place to do it.

Session times, venue details, and ticketing for each event are on the official website.

Tips for First-Timers

  • It’s strictly 18+. Bring photo ID in case you’re asked for it.
  • Check each event page. Dress codes, entry rules, and ticketing differ from one event to the next. Some events are ticketed separately, and prices on older pages may be out of date.
  • Consent comes first. The whole festival is built around it. Ask before you touch, respect the answer, and look out for each other.
  • Start small. If you’re nervous, begin with a workshop or a daytime event rather than a late-night party. Most people in the community are generous with newcomers.
  • Plan your transport. Venues are spread across Collingwood, Abbotsford, South Melbourne and South Yarra, so work out how you’ll get between them and home again.
